Spruce & Pine Loading Zones Injunction Upheld

Philly Bike Action July 14, 2026

On July 6, Judge Garcia upheld the temporary injunction that prevents the installation of Loading Zones on Spruce and Pine - despite City Council passing a law to legalize them.

The injunction does NOT prevent protecting the bike lanes, but the City has delayed installing projection until it can be paired with loading zones.

The City needs to decide, is tolerating illegal bike lane parking until the case goes to trial in 2027 worth risking another death?

Thanks to the FOPS suit, residents have no place to legally park, the bike lane remains unprotected, and years of extraordinary public and political support has been undermined by a few people with $150k+ to throw at a legal technicality.

They knew they couldn't win in the court of public opinion, so they moved the conversation to a court where the public has no voice.

9 years since Emily Fredricks was killed. 2 years since Dr. Barbara Friedes was killed. How long will the City let these perpetual obstructionists risk our lives?
